Screen and stage director Matt Boatright-Simon has shot and directed commercials, stage plays and television from New Delhi, India to New Castle, Indiana. Spanning shoots in high fashion to higher education, Boatright-Simon tells great stories with a unique colloquial voice. Matt's worked for top L.A. production houses including Lost Planet, Rhythm and Hues, and the Henson Company; infusing nuanced and naturalistic visual effects in kinetic hand held actioners and hand-sewn comedies alike. He's framed up Mick Jagger's super group Super Heavy, jazz legend Kenny Burrell's docu-concert with B.B. King and Stevie Wonder and has lensed other music luminaries including Kanye West, Dave Stewart, Michael Jackson, TI, and the Pussycat Dolls, to name a few.
Matt co-devised the minimalist, avant-garde award-winning stage play "100" which debuted at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and toured the globe. Additional stage credits include Harold Pinter’s "Dumb Waiter", Joyce Carol Oates’ "Greensleaves," David Rabe’s "Streamers" and Tennessee Williams’ "Auto Da Fe," as well as the west coast premiere of "By The Sea, By The Sea, By the Beautiful Sea" by Lanford Wilson, Terrence McNally and Joe Pintauro.
Matt studied theater and Chinese at the University of Wisconsin, Madison where he was a member of the national championship crew team.
